We foster people who have their own ability to think things through while examining the ideas and arts of all times and places, with a focus on Western philosophy.

The Department of Philosophy covers an extremely broad range of ideas, with a focus on Western philosophical ideas but also including those of India, China and Japan. We must respond to the diverse intellectual curiosity of students, and the faculty, with expertise in each field, have prepared a curriculum that is rich in character, for considering all kinds of things, to learn viewpoints on many diverse matters.
