The Department of Foreign Languages and Culture Studies regards language and culture as being inseparable, holding the perspective that “understanding culture without learning the language, or learning a language without understanding the culture, are impossibilities.” Therefore, we aim to foster people who can act as intermediaries, while understanding the differences and commonalities between Japanese culture and foreign cultures from a global perspective, and understanding the problems for themselves.
