Law School
Kokugakuin University commemorated its 120th anniversary in 2002. Positioning the establishment of the Law School as one of the commemorative projects for that anniversary, Kokugakuin also undertook the redesign and construction of multistory buildings on the Shibuya campus. The Law School of Kokugakuin University was opened in April 2004 in order to maintain and expand our tradition of legal studies.
Measures recently introduced to reform the judicial system in Japan outline the concept of law schools as places to develop human resources possessing a classic education and broad perspective of contemporary society, and combining both professional qualifications and an awareness of being a “physician for people’s social life.” Such human resources are the so-called “persons of wisdom serving local communities” that Kokugakuin University has been sending out to society for many years.
The Law School of Kokugakuin University aims to create a “university that is open to the community,” which is the basic philosophy of Kokugakuin University at present in nurturing the legal profession.
